The debates and arguments continue, and probably always will, with regard to the precise shades of chocolate and cream the GWR used for its passenger stock.

Although I have used shades that my clients request for my own stock I favoured a darker shade of chocolate as depicted in the HMRS GWR colour card 1881 to 1948.

As for the cream I prefer Ford Sahara Beige as the nearest match. Whatever is said there is no doubt that weathering did bleach the colours over time.

I also had to consider the finished vehicles being viewed in natural daylight or indoors under artificial light which can affect colour perception.
